Homemade guacamole is often the first thing to disappear at a party. It’s also good alongside a meal or simply as a snack at home, and this recipe won’t let you down. With a perfect balance of fresh flavors, this guac has been a hit with everyone who’s tasted it.
Prep time: 15 min.
Ingredients:
3 very ripe, peeled, pitted avocados
1 ¼ cup fresh tomatoes diced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
¼ cup finely chopped onion
1 finely chopped green onion
1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice
½ to ¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper
¼ cup fresh cilantro (optional)
- Mash the avocados (I use a potato masher).
- Add all other ingredients and mix to combine.
- Taste, and add more flavoring if needed.
- Serve fresh with chips, veggies, or as a topping for burritos, tacos, beans and rice, or anything else you want.
I have had the honor of tasting this, my favorite guacamole on several occasions. It is a great example of Amelia’s style as a cook–the guac has wholeness (there is an essential unity to the taste), harmony (the ingredients balance each other beautifully) and radiance (this guacamole, as with many other creations from Amelia, tends to be what gives you a little happy smile on the way home from visiting her).
